Tom McCabe, DVM  

Dr. McCabe was born in Heidelberg, Germany in June of 1949, while his family was stationed abroad with the U.S. Army.  His family moved to El Paso in 1957 and in 1960 settled in the northeast part of the city.  He attended Parkland High School (Class of 1967) and in 1971 graduated with Honors from UTEP.  After he completed two years as a draftee in the Army stationed at the First Army Medical Laboratory in Ft. Meade, Maryland he attended Texas A & M University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1977.  He then served in the Army as a captain in the Veterinary Corp and was stationed at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of  Infectious Disease at Ft. Dietrich, Maryland.  There he assisted in developing vaccines against potential biological warfare agents.  He started working at the Northeast Veterinary Clinic in August of 1980.  His interests include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery with an emphasis on MIS (minimally invasive surgery using a rigid endoscope and operative portals) and exotic animal medicine including fish. He enjoys running, dirt bike riding, bicycling, scuba diving, snowboarding, wakeboarding, web site development  and creating art metal. He created and maintains the website for the El Paso Veterinary Medical Association (www.epvma.org) and created that of the Southwest Koi and Pond Association (www.skapa.org).  He's the club veterinarian for Southwest Koi and Pond Association. He is the proud recipient of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association's Companion Animal Practitioner of the Year award for 2000.  He is also a past president of the Humane Society of El Paso, past President of the El Paso Veterinary Medical Association and a past chairman of the El Paso City-County Health District's Board of Health.  email: mccabe@nevc.com   

            

Robin Dettman, DVM

Dr. Dettman is a native El Pasoan and a graduate of Coronado High School. She received a B.S. in Biology from UTEP  in 1986, a B.S. in Veterinary Science from Texas A&M in 1988 and her D.V.M. from Texas A & M University in 1992 and came to work at the Northeast Veterinary Clinic that same year.  Her special interests in veterinary medicine include both soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. She has several dogs and cats of her own  and much of her spare time is dedicated to training and competing with her Smooth Collies and Australian Shepherd. She has obtained titles on dogs in conformation, obedience and agility.

 

Michelle Vrahnos, DVM

Dr. Vrahnos is a native El Pasoan and a graduate from Hanks High School.  She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Texas at El Paso and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University.  She began working at the Northeast Veterinary Clinic in June of 1997, and in 1998 she became certified in Penn Hip.  Dr. Vrahnos is married and has two pets, an Old English Sheepdog named Athena and a domestic shorthair cat named Sam.  Her hobbies include reading, jogging and spending her free time with her family. 

Tiffany Flores, DVM  

Dr. Tiffany Flores is also a native El Pasoan.  She graduated from Irvin High School and the University of Texas at El Paso with a BS in Biology in 1995.  She graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 and joined the Northeast Veterinary Clinic staff where her interests lie in internal medicine.  In her free time she enjoys horseback riding, SCUBA diving, traveling, flying, and cooking.

Annette Davis, DVM

Dr. Davis was born in San Antonio, Texas, but traveled some with her military family to destinations including El Paso.  During her time in El Paso she attended St. Pius X.  In 1999, Dr. Davis received a Bachelors in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University. In 2004, she received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University.  She joined NEVC in August of the same year.  Dr. Davis has a special interest in non-traditional species (including small mammals, avian and reptiles) and ultrasound.  She spends her free time with her family and pets.

Jorge Chavarria, DVM

Dr. Jorge Chavarria joined our practice more than 15 years ago as a veterinary technician.  Jorge was actually a licensed veterinarian in Mexico, but wanted to advance his career in veterinary medicine in the United States.  So, he embarked on the long, hard road to becoming licensed to practice in the United States and specifically, in Texas.  After much studying and practical applications in both large and small animals, Dr. Chavarria sat for his 6 board exams and was successful in passing them all!  He is a true inspiration to all of us demonstrating what you can accomplish if you put your mind to it and work hard.  Dr. Chavarria has a special interest in orthopedics and has completed extensive training in external skeletal fixators and both basic and advanced bone plating.  He is married and has a beautiful wife, Amsy, and two beautiful children.

Susana Bailey, DVM

Dr. Susana Bailey was raised in El Paso, attending schools in the Northeast area until her graduation from Irvin High School in 1990. She received her Bachelor's of Science in Zoology from the University of Texas at Austin and her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Her first position as a DVM was directly across the street from her high school-- here at NEVC!  After many exciting travels, including exploring the Grand Canyon by white water rafting the Colorado River, touring Italy, and spending many summers in Kodiak, Alaska, Dr. Bailey has turned to another adventure… raising three young children.  Outside of the clinic, her time is spent on family events, reading, and practicing yoga.

Ross Newton, DVM

 Dr. Newton comes from Austin, Texas and joined our practice in mid-August 2008.  Ross graduated from Texas A&M in 2007 and has a special interest in orthopedics, endoscopy, ophthalmology and dentistry.  He's successfully completed extensive training in dentistry, external skeletal fixators and both flexible and rigid endoscopy.  He  completed basic bone plating training in August 2009.  He enjoys wakeboarding and physical training.

Crystal Scott, DVM

Dr. Crystal Scott graduated form Iowa State University in 2008.  She is originally from Bismarck, North Dakota.  In 2004, she received a BS in
Microbiology with minors in Chemistry and Food Safety. She moved here with her lab cross, Gabe and two budgerigars, Tom and Felix.  Her veterinary medicine interests include small animal internal medicine, ultrasound and exotics.  She is currently the President of the El Paso Veterninary Medical Association. 

 

Wil Snyder, DVM

Dr. Snyder has been with the Northeast Veterinary Clinic since 2006. He was awarded a Naval ROTC scholarship in highschool to attend Miami University in Oxford Ohio. Upon graduating from Miami University with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, he was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps where he worked as a supply officer at several duty stations; including Okinawa, Japan twice. He was on Okinawa when he was accepted to The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation in 2000, Dr. Snyder entered the Army as a major. Already working part time at the Northeast Veterinary Clinic, he began working full time after his retirement from the the Army in 2007. He worked for a short time in Florida from 2008-2009 but returned to El Paso and the Northeast Veterinary Clinic in 2009.   

 

Cynthia Sanchez, DVM:  

Dr. Sanchez was born and raised in the El Paso area. She graduated from Coronado High School in 2002.  She attended Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry.  Dr. Sanchez earned her Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University and has as since joined our Staff.  Her interests include internal medicine and soft tissue surgery.  She enjoys spending time with her dogs Goofy, Mishka, and Tulum as well as her family and friends.

 

Lindsey Smith, DVM 

Dr. Smith was born  and raised in Clearwater, FL. She attended college in Orlando, FL and received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Central Florida in 2006. Her first big adventure was moving to Kansas to attend veterinary school at Kansas State University. She met her fiance, Jon, an Army officer, while he was stationed at Ft. Riley. She moved to El Paso in 2011 when her fiance was stationed at Ft. Bliss. She lives with their 6 year old cat, Lily and 3 dogs: Dylan, a 9 year old shepherd; Georgie, a 6 year old French bulldog; and Persia, a 1 year old mastiff. Since arriving in El Paso, she and her fiance have adopted a Chinchilla which they named Enchilada. Her interests in veterinary medicine include preventive medicine, parasitology, exotic animal medicine and soft tissue surgery. Her hobbies include cooking, gardening, water sports and any outdoor activities. In cooler weather, you will find her out riding her Harley.

 

 

Brian Giles, DVM

Dr. Giles was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He lived there until attending Stephen F. Austin State University for his BS in Animal Science.  He graduated in 2003 and then went on to ATM for his DVM degree which was completed iin 2007.  His professional interests are feline medicine, soft tissue surgery, and diagnostic imaging in no particular order.  In his down time I he is very much a homebody and his ideal day would be three or four football games, a big screen tv and a nice cigar.  He does lke to get out and see movies, browse bookstores, and  visit the gun range.  He shares his humble home with his domestic medium hair cat named Bridge.  He also has an interest in cave diving and hang gliding.
